Summer 2024

This summer we joined the neighborhood pool and it has been so great. We load up our red wagon and our big pink Bogg bag and walk down the street. We have had so much fun swimming together!

Chikfila has been offering free kids meals on Tuesday nights, so we've taken advantage of that as well and I can't tell you how much Reagan likes "Moo Moo"!

Amelia attended her first field hockey camp this summer with her BFF Kyri. It was hot as tamales but I think she had a fun time. This was Taylor Swift day so she wore her I heart NY shirt.

These girls have been very sweet to each other this summer and always using their wild imaginations. Below they are doing their best to be dressed up like Bluey and Bingo, puppy dog ears included.

Amelia attended Vacation Bible School again this year and we stayed afterwards one day to have a Chikfila picnic with our besties, including the newest adorable addition Renna!

We have been loving the Olympics this summer. The love girls chanting "USA! USA! USA!" ..ok so maybe I do too!

A lot of the local schools are headed back to the grind next week, but I am happy to say that these girls don't start for 3 more weeks! We are going to soak up some extra pool time and squeeze in a little bit more summertime fun while we can.

Recital 2024

This was the first year we had TWO girls in the dance recital and it was so adorable!

BFF's Kyri and Ezra were sweet enough to come watch and support our girls! We are so blessed to have them as friends.

We've enjoyed a break this summer, but the girls are already signed up for next year's classes which start back up in 2 weeks!

NYC for Chris's 40th

Chris has fallen in love with New York City. We have now made yearly trips for the past 3 years and so it was no surprise that he wanted to go there for his BIG 4-0 birthday.

We saw three AMAZING Broadway shows while we were there. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - I could not get over the special effects! It was a little long - 3 and 1/2 hours! But well worth it and totally awesome.

Next was Little Shop of Horrors. I wasn't expecting to like this one and was pleasantly surprised when I absolutely LOVED it! The theater is small so you really get a close up view of the performers and they are all so talented!

Last was Hadestown. Again, I didn't have high expectations for this because I didn't actually understand what it was supposed to be about. But it was FANTASTIC! And bonus it was actually about Greek mythology - Orpheus and Eurydice - which I learned about this year because Amelia was in a Greek mythology play at school!

We ate a LOT of good food including some pastrami on rye at the famous Katz deli. This is the restaurant where Meg Ryan filmed the famous scene in When Harry Met Sally.

After a show one night we hit up Junior's for some famous cheesecake. Yum!

One morning we ventured over to Russ & Daughters for some famous bagels and lox. I felt a little bit like I was ordering from the Soup Nazi while we were there because it was a very intimidatingly long line and we didn't really know what we were doing!

We visited the Harry Potter Exhibit which was really cool and highly recommend for kids. We didn't bring kids but that didn't stop us from fully enjoying the experience ourselves!

It was a great trip and we can't wait to go back again. Chris is trying to convince me to go back for my 40th birthday this year, but I think we'll wait for our annual trip next year.

Summer Happenings

This summer is going by fast. Right after school let out, we went down to Gaylord Opryland with the girls and Pam & Phillip for a few nights.

The girls loved the fountains and waterfalls and going up and down the escalators - haha.

Reagan has a long way to go before she is considered a good traveler. She was a bit fussy which made for some not so fun car rides on the way home.

As for the rest of the summer, we've stayed busy reading, doing swim lessons, going to birthday parties, and a few play dates here and there.

Amelia has become a pretty good swimmer this year, and we can't wait to have a pool day down at Gigi's house so she can practice!

Reagan can not wait for pre-school to start. She talks about it all the time. Thankfully her BFF Ezra is going to be in her class, so we are happy.

We've been going to church regularly on Sundays which I am so happy about. During and after COVID we got in a bit of a rut of not going, and every time we did go it seemed that one or both of the girls would end up sick a few days later. But thank you Jesus, this summer has been full of lots of church and worship and it's been good for all of us.

We are going to be busy once fall arrives - pre-school, 3rd grade (which will be 4 days a week instead of our usual 3), dance for both girls, and soccer for Reagan. Not to mention we have some traveling planned and I'll be teaching my class at Bellarmine on top of my regular job. Busy busy busy!

So we are going to soak up these last few weeks of summer and stay as low key as possible! Happy Summer!
