Happy 9th Birthday, Lucy Girl

How is it possible that I have had you in my life for 9 years?

You have been my tried and true companion since Day 1, and I am so blessed being your dog mom.

You have been such a trooper adjusting to life with Amelia. I know it was probably difficult to go from being our #1 to our #2, but you have handled it beautifully.

And don't worry, Amelia will learn soon enough to be more gentle with you and to stop invading your space every chance she gets.

You just keep being patient and giving lots of Lucy kisses to her and the rest of us, like you always do. You are such a sweet girl. And continue to take lots of naps in the meantime.

You are not only me and your dad's sweet girl, but you are #1 top grand-dog of the world!

I noticed that I don't have any Lucy & Mommy selfies from the past year - we need to fix that ASAP. Tonight = 1 big doggy birthday ice cream cone and a birthday selfie with your Mama! 

PS - Please say a prayer for my friend/former bball coach, Coach K. She posted just today that they will have to put their beloved dog Scrubby down this afternoon. They have had him for 9 years. My heart goes out to them, and the irony is not lost on me that I am celebrating my sweet companion's 9th birthday on the day they are losing theirs. It makes me want to go home and shower Lucy with a million snuggles and kisses.
