Time needs to SLOW DOWN. I can't believe Amelia is now 6 years old. She is basically an adult. Ok so maybe not actually, but she has grown and matured so much over the past year, in large part due to starting kindergarten and learning to read, but also due to becoming a big sister this year!
We celebrated on Amelia's actual birthday which fell on a Wednesday with donuts, balloons, and a few presents of course. She requested Chik-fil-a for lunch which we topped off with a mini bundt cake from Nana and Papaw.
One of Amelia's presents from us was a pink princess tent with little twinkle lights, which has now been declared the super secret sister clubhouse. No grown ups allowed!
On Saturday, we invited a few friends and family over for a COVID-style drive by birthday party. I was anticipating it to be a bit disappointing for her after years of having wonderful big family parties...but to our surprise, the drive by party was an absolute home run for the birthday girl! It was super cold so we bundled up and sat in the back of my SUV and waited for our visitors. She loved sitting in the back of the car (playing a little motown music) all cozied up and waving at every car and person that went by our house.
Some friends from school and dance stopped by (Abigail, Atalia, Hannah, and Lainey) which made her day, and some of Chris's aunts and uncles came by as well (Melissa & Tom, Michelle, and Colette). We didn't ask the Franklin crew to come because that is a long drive just to take 10 minutes in the cold to drive by our house. COVID will eventually be under control and we will have a big family party to celebrate that day! We handed out these adorable purple bunny cookies to everyone who stopped by.
Because of Amelia's extreme attachment to her purple bunny stuffed animal, the theme for the birthday this year was purple bunnies. Purple bunny cookies and a purple bunny cake!
